Reserve power plant from emergency generators for security of supply (winter reserve)

BKW is one of the partners selected by the federal government to set up a virtual reserve power plant using emergency generators. This helps to strengthen supply security in winter (February to April) and counteract a possible energy shortage. Become a part of this measure and help to keep the energy supply of Switzerland in a stable balance.

Most important requirements

  • Your plant can be operated synchronously with the grid or you are willing to retrofit this capability. The costs are borne by the federal government.
  • You have a fuel supply that is sufficient for operation for at least 24-48 hours.

Your benefits

  • You receive a provisioning fee of CHF 10,000 per megawatt.
  • In the event of an effective energy call, you will be reimbursed for the fuel costs incurred, including an appropriate surcharge. The costs of any retrofits will be covered for you.
  • Outside the commitment period of the winter reserve, we can offer your emergency generator on the balancing energy market via our virtual power plant (Powerflex) and generate attractive additional revenues for you.

With our many years of experience in operating and marketing a virtual power plant on the balancing energy market, we have built up a broad know-how with a wide range of technologies. Contact us today and we will be happy to take care of the technical integration and marketing of your plant.
