Fosen Vind project completed

The inauguration of the Fosen Vind wind power complex, located in central Norway, took place on 12 August 2021. The complex comprises six wind farms with a total of 277 turbines. It has an installed capacity of 1,057 megawatts and produces about 3.6 terawatt hours of electricity each year.

Construction work on the Fosen Vind wind power complex began in February 2016 and was completed by late summer 2020. The last turbines went into operation in January 2021. The complex opened on 12 August 2021. Fosen Vind is the largest onshore wind power complex in Europe, comprising six wind farms. Its 277 turbines produce around 3.6 terawatt hours of electricity each year. This corresponds to the annual consumption of more than 780,000 Swiss households.

Alongside other investors, BKW is a stakeholder in Fosen Vind DA via Nordic Wind Power DA. The Norwegian energy company Statkraft is the majority owner while the Trondheim-based energy company TrønderEnergi and Nordic Wind Power DA hold minority stakes. Nordic Wind Power DA BKW indirectly holds an 11% stake in the six wind farms.
