Leibstadt Nuclear Power Plant procurement contract to be replaced by company stake

BKW slightly reduces nuclear energy portfolio

BKW is simplifying and slightly reducing its nuclear energy portfolio. To this end, it plans on dissolving its electricity procurement contract with Alpiq. BKW currently receives 5.3% of the electricity produced at the Leibstadt Nuclear Power Plant (KKL) via this contract. The procurement contract is to be replaced by a 5% stake in KKL, which BKW will take over from Alpiq.

BKW will receive up to 28,800 MWh less electricity from KKL in future. BKW has had shares in KKL since 1973, and the electricity procurement contract with Alpiq has been in place since 1983.

The transfer of the shares in KKL is subject to the pre-emptive right of the other shareholders.
