The transfer of ownership concerns the converter systems in Wimmis with a total capacity of more than 100 MW, as well as the related switching units. This acquisition will provide the SBB with a modern rail power system that will optimise the supply of power to the Lötschberg base tunnel section. Integration of the systems in the Swiss rail power network under SBB's system leadership will simplify the control processes and operational management, and ensure the efficient management of rail power systems within the overall rail network. The SBB has acquired the installations for a price of CHF 14.5 million.
