With the profitable expansion of its Services business and its strong international trading, BKW increased revenue by 7% over the previous year’s period to reach CHF 1,370 million. The net profit increased by 59% to reach CHF 201 million. Operating cash flow grew by 27% to CHF 132 billion. The transformation of BKW towards a leading energy and infrastructure service provider is progressing well.
More than two thirds of our approximately 8000 employees work in the Services business area (Building Solutions, Engineering and Infra Services).

On 20 December, the Mühleberg Nuclear Power Plant (KKM) will be removed from the grid. We made the decision to decommission the KKM back in 2013. Since then, specialists have been meticulously planning the decommissioning.
The new substation in Bassecourt was inaugurated in June 2019. The modernisation of the central hub for the electricity supply in Jura is a milestone.
In March 2019, we inaugurated an onshore wind farm in Marker in south-east Norway. In doing so, we are furthering our commitment to CO2-neutral energy production and consolidating our role as a leading Swiss operator of wind farms, both in Switzerland and abroad.

How and why is energy clean?
The Berschnerbach hydroelectric power station near Walenstadt in the canton of St. Gallen is officially in operation. It covers around half of the electricity requirements of the municipality of Walenstadt and supplies 2,800 households with domestic, renewable energy.
Efficient energy from wood chip
Peter Fischer, a farmer in Schleitheim (SH), produces electricity and heat for both his farm and the nearby nursing home from his wood gas CHP plant. The installation was carried out by our subsidiary, Lutz Bodenmüller.
